Does This Sounds Like You?

You catch yourself feeling easily startled or emotionally triggered when exposed to reminders of what happened to you.

You've done countless hours of talk therapy, but your body still reacts the same way when reminded of your trauma.

You recently went through a traumatic event, and you still can't shake off the emotional impact it had on you.

You want relief from the flash backs and feeling like the other shoe is going to drop any moment.

There are deep negative beliefs about yourself that you can't shake, despite logically knowing they're not true.

My Approach Using EMDR

The beginning part of EMDR looks a lot like traditional talk therapy. We'll focus on getting to know each other, building a safe relationship, and identifying what you'd like to accomplish through EMDR.

When we move into the core part of EMDR, bilateral stimulation, you'll be asked to visualize an emotionally distressing memory and let your mind drift with it while either tapping on your knees back and forth or using buzzers I can provide. Through this process, the memory tends to feel less emotionally charged, and other insights often surface along the way.

I am EMDR trained through an EMDRIA-approved program and am currently working toward full EMDR certification.

Benefits Of EMDR Therapy

The first few sessions are more of a preparation stage, where I'll equip you with emotional regulation and compartmentalization tools to manage any distressing thoughts or feelings that come up during EMDR processing. We'll also explore your trauma history and build a list of memories you'd like to process.

Once we both feel ready to move into the actual memory processing, we'll start with a memory we believe is a good fit for your first one, then work down the list. It's common to feel more fatigued or easily agitated within the first 48 hours after processing a memory. Each following session, I'll check in on how you feel about a memory, and we'll keep the pace emotionally sustainable for you.
